HDIF aims to initiate, facilitate, and nurture sustainable development initiatives in Armenian communities. One of its main projects is a grass root, non-profit organization dedicated to the creation of jobs for women in the regions of Armenia, through the artistry and production of various goods. Each member of HDIF, whether organization or individual, produces a unique craft using traditional techniques and materials. It is headed by Sir Timothy Straight, the honorary consul of Norway and Finland in Armenia.
Women, children and Armenians with disabilities in over 10 villages and towns across the country are contributing to the growth of HDIF, producing a number of different types of products: hand-knitted teddy bears; sewn kitchen items decorated with Armenian favorites; crocheted dolls in traditional Western Armenian costumes; tiny crocheted animals; sewn iPad cases; knitted sweaters; beautifully embroidered bags; and more!
